Available in the Hamptons is this highly original 1997 NAS Land Rover Defender 90 Station Wagon, finished in classic Coniston Green. It proudly wears badge #2497, the third to last regular production NAS Defender ever built. This Defender remained with a single family from new until 2022, spending the majority of its life in the dry climates of California and New Mexico. Thanks to its time out West, the entire truck is virtually rust-free.
After arriving on the East Coast in 2023, the Defender was sent to East Coast Rover in Rockland, Maine, where it received a comprehensive service, including both mechanical and cosmetic work. A detailed list of the work completed is available upon request.
This Defender continues to run strong, with just under 130,000 miles on the original 4.0L V8 gas engine and automatic transmission. The factory air conditioning blows cold, and the modern upgraded stereo performs flawlessly. It is worth noting that a odometer discrepancy is referenced on the Carfax report. The LCD screen on the odometer went blank at one point, leading to a misreporting of the mileage. However, the internal mileage remained accurately recorded, and the LCD screen on odometer has since been repaired to reflect the true mileage.
Cosmetically, this Defender is in good overall condition with some minor dings consistent with its age, but no paint issues. It is outfitted with an East Coast Rover roof rack and ladder, along with the original OEM brush guard. Two items that may require attention are the tires and the headliner. While the tires are in good shape, they are older, and the headliner is worn—though new replacement material is included with the sale.
Overall, this is an amazing opportunity to own an highly original and well sorted, rust free final year of production NAS Defender 90.
